Summary

In 2012 the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (2009 - 2012) was abolished and its functions were distributed across nine newly created Queensland Government Departments. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry was one of these nine departments. According to the Queensland Archives (9 September 2016) the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry was responsible for "food production and processing, fisheries, agri-science, biosecurity, animal welfare, animal and plant diseases, forestry and associated regional services". In 2015 the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry was restructured and renamed creating the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (2015 - ).
