Summary

The Department of Natural Resources was officially created in 1998 through a merger of some functions of the Department of Primary Industries (I) and the Lands Department. The Queensland state archives mentions that the Lands Department changed it's name to the Department of Natural Resources in 1996, two years before the merger. In 2001 The Department of Natural Resources was combined with the Department of Mines and the Department of Energy to form the Department of Natural Resources and Mines.
