Summary

The Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries (1993 - 1998) was established in 1993 and took on functions from the former Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation (1989 - 1996) and the Department of Primary Industry, Fisheries and Energy (1992 - 1993). Some of the offices that sat within the Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries (1993 - 1998) included the Rivers and Water Supply Commission (1957 - 2011), the Office of Energy Planning and Conservation (1992 - ), Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (1993 - ), Agricultural, Silvicultural and Veterinary Chemicals Council (1995 - ) and the Tasmanian Racing Authority1990 - 1998). In 1998 this department was abolished and its functions divided between the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources (1998 - 2014) and the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment (1998 - 2006).
