Summary

In 1992 the Department of Primary Industry (1989 - 1992) and sections of the Department of Resources and Energy (1989 - 1992) were merged to create the Department of Primary Industry, Fisheries and Energy (1992 - 1993). This merger resulted in responsibility for water management and drainage, energy as well as agricultural and aquaculture regulation, management and research into one department. In 1993 the Department of Primary Industry, Fisheries and Energy (1992 - 1993) was replaced by the Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries (1993 - 1998).
