Summary

Daniel Sullivan was a teacher who, for 27 years, was at the Moyston State School in western Victoria. He was an enthusiastic plant collector, particularly in his local area and around the Grampians and the Pyrenees Ranges. Further excursions took him to Omeo in eastern Victoria and to Mt Kosciusko (with James Stirling). Many of his specimens were sent to Ferdinand von Mueller, while large sets of his mosses and lichens were sent to European specialists for determination. Sullivan published a number of papers (including a census) on the Grampians flora in local journals, the Victorian naturalist and the Southern science record.
