Summary
The Honourable John Howard Angas MLC founded the "Angas Engineering Scholarship" in 1878, to "encourage the training of scientific men, and especially civil engineers, with a view to their settlement in South Australia".
However, most of those awarded the scholarship briefly returned to South Australia, but then later achieved successful careers interstate or overseas.
The tenure of the scholarship is normally for two years, is usually awarded biennially, and is administered by the University of Adelaide.
