Summary
Lindsay McCready was an engineer specialising in radio receiver systems. After being employed by AWA before WWII, he joined the CSIR/O Division of Radiophysics where he worked closely with Joe Pawsey. In October 1945, the first successful Australian radio observations of the sun were made at the RAAF radar station, Collaroy Plateau Park, Sydney, by Pawsey, McCready and Ruby Payne-Scott. McCready ultimately became head of all engineering services at the Division.
