Summary

George Simcock AMIEAust was the Manager of Australian Glass Manufacturers Co. Pty Ltd at Spotswood in Victoria, from c1923 to 1953, and was also the Victorian Technical Manager, Australian Consolidated Industries Limited (ACI) 1939 to 1953. In 1936 the first translucent hollow glass bricks in Australia were manufactured at the Spotswood plant of Australian Glass Manufacturers Co. Ltd, and he promoted these widely to the building industry. He was active within the engineering profession and the Victorian Institute of Engineers, serving on its Council, and was Vice president in 1933 and President 1934 - 1935. He also actively supported the local communities of Spotwood, Williamstown and Footscray.

Simcock Avenue, Spotswood is named after him.
