Summary

In 2009 the environment and parks functions from the Department of Environment, Parks, Heritage, and the Arts (2008 - 2009) were transferred to the Department of Primary Industries and Water (2006 - 2009), creating the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (2009 - ). Entities moved across as part of this change included the Parks and Wildlife Service (1993- ) and the Environment Protection Authority (2008 - ). The new Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment retained the agricultural, fisheries, and water related functions of its predecessor.
