Summary

In 1995 the Engineering and Water Supply Department (1929 - 1995) was corporatized and became the South Australian Water Corporation (SA Water) (1995 - ). At the same time the laboratory and testing functions were combined to form the Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC). SA Water subsequently contracted out the Adelaide water and waste water service to a private company United Water International, SA Water retains some testing and laboratory elements, and overall management of sewerage and water in South Australia.
