Summary

Joe Boray was a veterinary parasitologist whose research focused on the epidemiology and development of treatments for a range of animal diseases, particularly liver flukes. His emphasis was on practical outcomes for farmers and advisors in disease control. During his career he worked in parasitology research institutions in Hungary and Germany, and in Australia at the CSIRO McMaster Animal Health Laboratory (Sydney), the Ciba-Geigy Research Centre (Kemps Creek), and the New South Wales Department of Agriculture. His work on Fasciola hepatica found application internationally for the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). In retirement Boray worked as consultant to a variety of private and public sector organisations, and was expert in the breeding of vector snails.
