Tong, Yit Chow (Joe)

Occupation
Mechanical engineer

Summary

Joe Tong was a collaborator with Graeme Clark in the development of the bionic ear (cochlear implant). Tong began with Clark as a graduate student in mechanical engineering. He was one of the first to join Clark's team at the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Melbourne in 1970. He co-authored many publications with Clark and was also co-inventor named on four patents. Tong continued to work in the department until 1992.
