Summary

Tony Vassallo is an expert in energy science. He worked at the CSIRO Division of Energy Technology for 22 years (1980 - 2003) where he rose to the position of Senior Principal Research Scientist. His interest in energy storage technology led him conceive, resource and steer the CSIRO Carbon Supercapacitor Project from 1994 to 2001. The research undertaken within this project was integral to the development of the supercapacitor energy storage incorporated in the CSIRO's Low Emissions Vehicles, produced in 2000. In 2008 Vassallo was named the inaugural Delta Electricity Chair in Sustainable Energy Development at the University of Sydney.
