Summary

Fritz Reuter was Associate Professor of Food Technology, School of Chemical Engineering, University of New South Wales 1952-1970. He taught a number of Colombo plan students and continued education assistance to developing countries after his retirement, often with tenures as a visiting professor. Reuter was also a strong supporter of uniform food regulations and played a significant role in their adoption in New Zealand and Australia.

Born Vienna, 19 September 1905. Died 26 March 2001. Educated Munich and Berlin (PhD in biochemistry). Carnegie Research Fellowship, University of Sydney 1936-37; head, Organic Chemistry Department, Sydney Technical College 1938-52; associate professor and foundation head, Department of Food Technology, New South Wales University of Technology (later University of New South Wales) 1952-70. Chairman, Food Standards Standing Committee, National Health and Medical Research Council for 20 years; Editor, Food Technology in Australia for 30 years; Australia Award, US Institute of Food Technologists 1962; International Award, Institute of Food Technologists 1971; Fellow, Royal Institute of Chemistry, Royal Australian Chemical Institute and Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology.
