Summary

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute was established in 1986, having previously been known as the Cancer Institute, Melbourne (1949-1986) located in the Queen Victoria Hospital. The Cancer Institute was governed by the Cancer Institute Board of Victoria. The Institute is affiliated with the University of Melbourne. From their Web site, February 2002: "The Institute aims to provide facilities and resources of the highest quality for diagnosing and treating cancer, for cancer research, and for related education and training."
