Summary

Harold Loxton, OBE BSc MCE FIEAust, was Chairman of the Commonwealth Bureau of Roads from 1965 until 1977. Earlier in his career he played a major part in the establishment of the Weapons Research Establishment at Salisbury and Woomera, South Australia and was Deputy Director, Engineering for eight years.

He was active within the Institution of Engineers Australia, as a member, vice-chairman, chairman of Division committes in South Australia and Victoria, as a national councillor and was active on the technical committes of the Institutoion. He was also a Councillor, Institute of Urban Studies, and a Fellow, Australian Institute of Management. His significant service was recognised when he was a appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1977.
