Summary
William Legrand was a book seller in Hobart who was interested in natural history, particularly conchology. In 1870 he produced a book on Tasmanian land shells, of which very few copies are known. This book was a precursor to Legrand's Collections for a monograph of Tasmanian land shells (1871). In producing these books Legrand relied on the work of New South Wales conchologists James Charles Cox and John William Brazier.
