Summary

The Women's and Children's Health Care Network came into being in 1995 under the provisions of the Health Services Act of 1988, with the aggregation of the Royal Children's Hospital and the Royal Women's Hospital. From 2000 the Network was known as Women's and Children's Health. Both Hospitals continued to operate under their own names, each with its own Board, in recognition that each served a discrete constituency The incorporation of Women's and Children's Health was cancelled under the Act in 2005.
