Summary

The Department of Environment and Planning was created as a result of the amalgamation of the Department for the Environment (1976 - 1981) and the Department for Urban and Regional Affairs (1979 - 1981). The Department of Environment and Planning was responsible for conservation, South Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service, Pollution, and other related functions. In 1992 the Department of Environment and Planning was dissolved and replaced by the Office of Planning and Urban Development (1992 - 1993). The environmental functions from this department were moved to the Department of Environment and Land Management in the same year (1992).
