Daniel O'Connor was a chemist whose career was spent largely at the Australian Atomic Energy Commission, Lucas Heights, Taubman Industries and Colonial Sugar Refining Company (CSR). His later career included research and science administration positions including in chemical engineering at the University of Sydney, and at the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science. O'Connor was an active participant in the council of the Royal Society of New South Wales.
