Summary

John Boyle studied arts at the University of Sydney and was a cadet draftsman in the New South Wales Department of the Attorney-General and of Justice in 1926-1927. He became a registered surveyor in 1933. Boyle worked for a civil engineering and surveying company during the Depression and sailed to Papua in 1937 to survey the Fly River region. In 1942 he moved to Canberra and joined the Commonwealth Public Service.
