Alexander Gorrie worked for BP Australia Ltd (then the Commonwealth Oil Refineries Ltd) from 1948. He was Director 1972-1978 and Chairman and Managing Director 1978-1986, Chairman, BP Australia Holdings Ltd 1987-1991 and Chairman of the BP Advisory Board in Australia and Papua New Guinea from 1991.
