Solarex was first established in 1973 in New South Wales. Since April 1999 BP Amoco has been the sole owner of Solarex, having been a wholly owned subsidiary of Amoco Corporation since 1983. It was then known as BP Solarex Australia, but now it trades as BP Solar.
