Abstract

Decked rockfill dams are being constructed in increasing numbers and to increased heights. A review is made of both existing design and construction practices, and troubles arising from some of these are discussed, A method is developed of computing strains and stresses in the decking material due to the movements of the fill. Comparisons are made between computed strains and those recorded at Salt Springs Dam. Recommendations for design are made.
