Description

This paper, No. 496, by Frederick Bertleson Haugaard, AMIEAust, originated in the Sydney Division of The Institution.

[This paper was proxime accessit for the Electrical Association Premium 1934.]

Abstract

The paper deals with the parallel operation of automatically-controlled voltage regulating devices for electricity distribution systems. The parallel operation is accomplished without the use of mechanical coupling devices between units and without, sensibly, any impedance between the controlled units. Parallel operation of the devices dealt with in the paper is another step forward towards the ideal of continuity of supply. A summary of operating instructions for regulators in parallel is given in Appendix A.
