Summary

Geoff Monteith is an entomologist who has made significant contributions to the survey and collection of invertebrates in rainforest areas both in Australia and overseas. His particular interest in the family Aradidae (flat bugs), on which he has published prolifically. The Queensland Museum holds thousands of his collections. Over 220 genera and species have been named in his honour. Monteith retired in 2008 as Senior Curator of Entomology at the Queensland Museum. He is an active participant in natural history societies, holding office as President of the Entomological Society of Queensland (and serving on Council for 19 years) and the Queensland Naturalists' Club. From 1982 to 1991 he was Editor of the news bulletin of the Australian Entomological Society, of which he is an Honorary member.
