Stephen Lackey Kessell succeeded C. E. Lane·Poole as Conservator of Forests, Western Australia from 1923 to 1941. He was then appointed Controller of Timber, Commonwealth Department of Supply and Development (1941-1945) and Managing Director of Australian Newsprint Mills (1945-1962).
