Summary

The Forests Department was a Western Australian government department responsible for timber production, recreation and tourism, flora and fauna, and forestry research. Established in 1919 it took over the functions of the Wood and Forests Department (1896 - 1919). It was replaced by the Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM) (1985 - 2006) in 1985.
