The K L Sutherland Memorial Medal was established in 1982 by the Australian Industrial Research Group, the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. The Medal is awarded biennially for the application of science for the benefit of the community and commemorates Dr K L Sutherland OBE FAA FT.
