- Abstract
Morris Award
A letter was received from Melbourne Technical College concerning two prizes formerly awarded by the Victorian Institute of Engineers and for which The Institution has now accepted responsibility. It was requested that they be consolidated into one prize of £10 10s. 0d. for the best student in mechanical engineering. The Council agreed to this recommendation and decided that the prize should be known as the Morris Award, and that the history of the award, the Victorian Institute of Engineers' association with it, and the fact that the name commemorated a former President of the Institute, would be incorporated in the preamble to the rules of the prize when published in the Prizes pamphlet. It was also decided that the funds from the liquidation of the Victorian Institute of Engineers, when received, would be paid into the general prize fund of The Institution.
