Abstract

The paper details the plant installed by the contractor for the construction of the Mount Bold Dam, South Australia, and mentions the method of river control adopted. Particular reference is made to the supply of materials for the concrete, and the mixing and placing of the concrete. The problems associated with the driving of the outlet tunnel, construction of a stilling pool at the bottom of the spillway and the building of cut-off walls to prevent seepage round the abutments of the dam are also briefly dealt with.
