- Abstract
In dealing with the use of carrier systems in Australia it is not possible to ignore the associated factors concerned with the design of the trunk telephone and telegraph systems, and it is proposed, therefore, briefly to survey the general problem. The provision of a trunk telephone service to the continent of Australia presents many problems not experienced in other countries. These problems are due generally to the peculiar distribution of the population and its concentration in the eastern and south-eastern coastal districts and in the south-western district.
