Abstract

The transport needs of Melbourne, particularly the demands for fast transport to and from the growing outer areas, have been the subject of close investigation by an expert committee of railway officers. A scheme embracing duplication of lines, terminal improvements and underground railway connections, has been devised, with a view to meeting future railway requirements. A brief outline of the proposed scheme is given in the paper.
