Networks employed in radio equipment are analysed to obtain approximate expressions for the distortion of programme transients. The distortion may occur in carrier-frequency circuits, when the transients appear as amplitude modulation of the carrier wave, or in circuits designed to amplify the programme electro-motive forces. Particular attention is paid to low-frequency amplifiers, low pass filters, highly-selective tone-corrected receivers and receivers having band-pass response to carrier frequencies. The response of electromechanical devices is outside the scope of the paper.
