This paper, No. 612, which originated in the Sydney Division of The Institution, was presented before the Structural Engineering Branch of the Division on 17th August, 1937. The authors, Vladimir Karmalsky BCE AMIEAust, and Alexander Theodore Britton BSc BE AMIEAust, are officers in the Bridge Design Section of the Design Branch of the Department of Main Roads, New South Wales.
- Abstract
This paper is a description of a three-span suspension bridge for light traffic recently constructed by the Department of Main Roads, New South Wales. The type of structure is considered by the authors to be very economical for the conditions at the site. The theory of the design and method of calculation are given.
