- Abstract
The paper covers the history and development of electricity supply from central metropolitan stations to rural and country areas in South Australia, from its inception in about 1912 to the present time.
The principal features of six main country transmission systems are described and the costs analysed and compared with the revenue.
Comments on the future prospects, increasing costs and the necessity for economy in supplying electricity in the country are added, and the "surcharge" method of encouraging new country consumers is described.
