Abstract

The investigation described in this paper was carried out in the laboratories of the engineering school of the University of Adelaide with the aid of a grant from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. Consequent upon the satisfactory experience gained in the construction of the Mount Bold dam, South Australia, it was decided that tests be conducted to determine under what conditions the addition of fine inert material to a mortar or to a concrete might be of advantage.
