- Abstract
Flight tests on a fine spring day with a westerly wind blowing demonstrated that pronounced ascending and descending air currents were to be found at nearly equally spaced intervals up to an altitude of 2,500 feet . Velocities up to about 8 feet per second were recorded, and a value of the average acceleration of the aircraft entering these vertical currents was 0.5g, producing an average loading upon the aeroplane of 1.5g x M, where M is the mass of the machine.
