Abstract

The Aeolian vibration of bodies supported in a wind stream is briefly discussed and the characteristics of the motion outlined. An experimental method is described by which it is possible to measure the interchange of energy between an air stream and a vibrating circular cylinder immersed therein. From a number of experimental results an empirical relation is deduced which conforms to the theory of dimensions.
