Abstract

This paper describes a particular type of cracking observed upon the surfaces of freshly-poured concrete slabs, the cause of which is at present obscure. Although there has not previously been any published data upon the phenomenon, it is not claimed that this paper is an original contribution. The author's aim is to present a summary of available information, in order to provoke discussion and research on the subject.
