Abstract

The German engineer Peter Behrendt and the local firm of Palmer, Scott & Co, together introduced German waterproofing methods, Westphalian iron, and Traegerwellblech construction, as well as designing the first wrought iron framed city building.

The presentation considered these topics within the general context of bituminous waterproofing materials, fireproof construction and iron framing.
