Summary

Bob White, ME FIEAust, was Chairman of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria from 1971 until he retired in 1974. During that period he was involved with the Newport gas-fired power station, Snowy Mountains Scheme and Latrobe Valley power operations. In his previous role as Chief Distribution Engineer from 1949, he was responsible for extending electricity services to rural towns, replacing small local power stations, and to remote areas of Victoria.

He was involved with the Instution of Engineers, Victoria Division, and with his fluent French he became an Australian representative on the CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques).
