Summary
William David Williams worked on the biology of salt lakes around Australia in the early 1960s. In 1973 he wrote Inland Waters and Their Ecology, with I.A.E. Bayly. He also wrote a number of other books on salinity, inland waters, etc. between 1972 and 1999.

Born Liverpool, England, 21 August 1936. Educated Universities of Liverpool (BSc 1956, PhD 1960, DSc 1974) and Monash (DipEd 1974). Arrived Australia 1961. Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Zoology, Monash University 1961-73; Professor of Zoology, University of Adelaide 1975-94, Emeritus Professor and Honorary Visiting Research Fellow from 1995. Jolly Award, Australian Society of Limnology; Verco Medal, Royal Society of South Australia 1990; Fellow, Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
