Summary

Colin (Col) Glendinning served in the Second World War in the Royal Australian Navy Volunteer Reserve and joined the Bureau of Meteorology as a forecaster-in-training in 1946. He served for 38 years in the Bureau, mainly as an aviation forecaster, at offices in Adelaide, Alice Springs, Canberra, Darwin, Lae, Melbourne, Perth, Port Moresby and Sydney. He contributed his reminisces about the early days of aviation forecasting and technology, and his time in Papua and New Guinea in the 1950s, to Metarch Papers No. 8, 1996.
