Summary
Herbert Henry Woollard was born and educated in Australia and was Professor of Anatomy and Histology at the University of Adelaide from1928 to 1929. He spent the rest of his illustrious working life in England and is best remembered for his studies on peripheral innervation. Woollard received the French Croix de Guerre and the Symington Memorial Prize from the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
After completing his war service he studied for primary examination at the Royal College of Surgeons and became an Anatomy Demonstrator at University College, London. Woollard remained in London for a few years then came to work at the University of Adelaide, but quickly returned to London to take up a post at the St Bartholomew's Hospital (1929-1936).
