Summary

Jan Kolm was educated in Germany and Czechoslovakia before arriving in Australia around 1950. He joined Imperial Chemical Industries of Australia and New Zealand Limited (ICIANZ) as a chemist and remained with the organization for over thirty years. His last position with ICI Australia was as the company's Executive Director (1973-1980). Kolm was also a Director of many other companies including CSR Chemicals Ltd., Nylex Corporation Ltd. and Beach Petroleum NL (1981-1988).

He was a member of many scientific bodies and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Managers (FAIM), The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (FTSE) and the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (FRACI). Kolm was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 1983.
