Biographical entry Beechey, Frederick William (1796 - 1856)
- Geographer and Arctic explorer
Frederick William Beechey began his naval career during a period of minimal naval warfare so he turned his attention to polar exploration. He carried out Arctic exploration with Captain Parry in 1819 and headed a polar research voyage to the Pacific and Behring strait from 1825-28.
