<biogHist>
<abstract>Edward Noyes, with his brother Henry, formed the successful engineering firm of Noyes Brothers Ltd in 1888. This firm was separately incorporated in New South Wales and Victoria in 1907, with Edward as governing director in New South Wales, and Henry managing Victoria. Edward took an active interested in elecrical engineering, and carried out numerous contracts, including many for the Sydney electric tramways, and the installation of the Dunedin electric tramways. He was a member of the council of the Electrical Association of New South Wales, and was a vice-president in 1906-7.

The Edward Noyes Prize was founded on a donation to the Institution of Engineers Australia by Mrs Edward Noyes.</abstract>
