<abstract>The Sunraysia Field Naturalists Club was founded in 1949 with the intention of promoting the protection and recognition of the area's unique flora and fauna. Activities included regular meetings, field trips and lectures, reports of which were printed in the <span style="font-style:italic">Sunraysia daily</span> newspaper. From 1962 to the mid-1970s the Club was known as the Sunraysia Field Naturalists Research Trust. The Trust published an annual <span style="font-style:italic">Report</span> which included results of the Club's flora and fauna surveys in the local area. <span style="font-style:italic">Sun-nat</span> was the newsletter produced by the Club. Inaugural President, Clarrie Lang, was a well-known ornithologist. Other notable members included Leslie Chandler and Eileen Ramsay.</abstract>
