<biogHist>
Anglesea, Aireys Inlet Society for the Protection of Flora and Fauna (more usually referred to as Angair) was founded in 1969, largely at the initiative of Edith Lawn (who became an Honorary Life Member in 1985) and Norma Bull. A volunteer organisation, the Society is committed to maintaining the natural beauty of the Anglesea and Aireys Inlet region, and to protect, and raise awareness of, the indigenous fauna and flora of the local area. Angair was incorporated in 1984. For many years the Society produced a newsletter for members. The <span style="font-style:italic">Angair quarterly</span>, first issued in 2021, contains articles on general and local natural history subjects, reports on Society activities, and profiles of members. Active in community consultative initiatives, the Society has representatives in organisations such as the Alcoa Community Consultation Network and the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority. It also works closely with other local groups, including the Friends of the Eastern Otways National Park and Friends of Moggs Creek. More broadly, Angair is connected to similar organisations across Australia through membership of the Australian Naturalists Network and the South East Australian Naturalist Association.
